Hello! My name is Katie. I’ve always loved technology. I was maybe in second or third grade when my parents first bought our computer in the early 80s. The package mysteriously included a little programming book (in hindsight, I think it was my mom that was trying to send a message to me). While I enjoyed drawing and playing games, the program would often crash and show a bunch of gibberish codes. And what do you know, this little book came in handy to get the game going again.
I was a proud career woman working in an IT department for one of the world’s leading brands, but it came with a downside of high stress (like everyone else). After I had my child, I decided to leave the corporate world and became a stay-at-home mom for a while. Then I realized I needed something more invigorating than talking with a baby all day, and playdates were not cutting it. So I decided to open my own mineral makeup business – formulating my own and not reselling. I had enough technical skills to create and maintain my own website. The business was very successful, but the fun faded when all I did was package and sell my products – there was no challenge in it anymore. So I sold the business a few years later, and I’m happy to say that it is still thriving today.
Now, in a new city with a little more time, I wanted to work again. I had been pondering starting my own web design business since I had been coming across numerous local websites that needed to be updated. Just then, my previous business partner (oh yeah, I did own another business with three other partners, but that fizzled quickly) gave me a real exciting opportunity to work at home again! I would mainly provide services to other work-at-home moms and small business owners, so I jumped in with my both feet!
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, nature, and even a little bit of photography. And of course, spending time with my son and our two cats. Oh, and my husband, too.
